Dr. Justina Seyi-Olajide is a consultant pediatric surgeon, educator, and global health advocate dedicated to improving access to safe and high-quality surgical care for children in low-resource settings. She currently serves as the Jean-Martin Laberge Fellow in Global Pediatric Surgery at McGill Children’s Hospital and a PhD candidate in Experimental Surgery at McGill University, Canada.

At the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where she has practiced since 2016, Dr. Seyi-Olajide provides clinical care in general pediatric surgery, pediatric urology, and neonatal surgery, while mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. She was awarded the 2013 Alinta Nwako Prize by the West African College of Surgeons for the best graduating trainee in Pediatric Surgery.

Her research and advocacy focus on health systems strengthening, pediatric surgical outcomes, and equity in access to care. She is a Board Member of the Global Initiative for Children’s Surgery (GICS), Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health, and Project Team Member of the Pan-African Pediatric Surgery E-learning Programme. Dr. Seyi-Olajide also serves as Treasurer and Technical Team Member of the Pan-African Surgical Healthcare Forum (PASHeF) and Chair of Nigeria’s National Surgical, Obstetric, Anaesthesia, and Nursing Plan (NSOANP) Revision Committee and Technical Subcommittee.

A passionate mentor and advocate for women in surgery, Dr. Seyi-Olajide continues to shape national and continental surgical policy while advancing research and education in global pediatric surgery.
