Dr. Judith Pemba

Dr. Judith Pemba is an aspiring Surgical-Scientist committed to advancing equitable, evidence-based surgical care. She is currently a first-year surgical resident pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through COSECSA at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi. Her clinical interests include reconstructive surgery, particularly restoring function and quality of life for patients with complex surgical conditions and injuries. Alongside her clinical training, she has experience in research and multicentre clinical trials, with a growing interest in translating evidence into surgical practice. Her previous experience as a Senior Medical Doctor at Mwanza District Hospital provided valuable exposure to both primary and secondary healthcare and the challenges of delivering surgical services in resource-limited settings. Her goal is to combine plastic and reconstructive surgical practice with research, innovation, and advocacy to advance surgical equity and improve patient outcomes.

PASHeF aims to improve surgical healthcare in Africa by bringing together policymakers, clinicians, researchers, and advocates to address issues such as political commitment, health service delivery, and national policies.
