Dr. Chigozi Uwandu

Dr. Chigozie Uwandu is a Chief Consultant Anesthesiologist at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. She works as the Lead Consultant Anesthesiologist in the Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat, Oral and Maxillofacial theatres of the hospital with special interest in paediatric and craniofacial anesthesia. She is a trainer and facilitator for SAFE Pediatric and Obstetric Anesthesia courses, an examiner and accreditation panel member for the West African College of Surgeons, and also a mentor to resident doctors and other younger colleagues.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr Uwandu is a technical committee member for Nigeria’s National Surgical Obstetrics and Nursing Plan (NSOANP); a Ministry of Health initiative aimed at surgical health system strengthening and integration of surgical care into Universal Health Coverage.
